Notice on the Selection of Outstanding Students to Participate in the 2019 Chinese University Student Delegation to Japan

Relevant Colleges,

As per the notice of Shanxi Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SXPPAFFC), and in order to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the younger generations of China and Japan, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) will send a delegation consisting of 150 Chinese university students to Japan from May 19 to 26, 2019 at the invitation of Japan-China Friendship Center. We hereby notify matters related to the selection as follows:

I.Selection Criteria
1.The candidate shall be full-time undergraduate students or doctoral or master students of 18 years old or above who major in environment, chemical engineering, electric power or mining etc.

2.The candidate shall have Chinese nationality, love the socialist motherland and have good political and professional qualities, with high morals and excellent academic performance. He or she shall be career minded with a sense of responsibility, physically and mentally healthy, and honest and trustworthy. He or she shall have no records of violations of laws and disciplines and have a strong teamwork spirit and good communication skills.

II.Submission of Application Materials and Departure Time 

1.Application materials: a photocopy of passport, one original transcript in both Chinese and English, one original certificate of enrollment, “Application Form of Taiyuan University of Technology for Overseas (Cross-border) Student Exchange Program” (see attachment), and other supporting materials, etc.

2.According to the notice of SXPPAFFC, priority will be given to students who have not visited Japan before.

3.Visit time: a total of 8 days starting from May 19 to 26, 2019

IV.Expenses

The international travel expenses and living expenses in Japan will be borne by Japan; and domestic transportation expenses by students themselves.

V.Selection Procedures

1.Students who wish to participate in the selection are required to submit the “Application Form of Taiyuan University of Technology for Overseas (Cross-border) Student Exchange Program”, together with other application materials to Office G208 of International Cooperation Division (ICD) (at Yingxi Campus) or Room 322 of the Management Committee at Mingxiang campus before March 13, 2019.

2.ICD, together with other relevant divisions, will arrange interviews for applicants who meet the selection criteria, and select the best candidates to participate in the delegation in accordance with the result of the interviews.

3.ICD will disclose the selection result and report the list of selected candidates to higher authorities.
