From June 17 to 21, Wu Yucheng, Party Committee Secretary of TYUT, was invited to lead a delegation to visit the City University of Macau, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, and City University of Hong Kong for discussions on the exchange of students and teachers, talent training, research cooperation and talent recruitment etc. Wu Yucheng, focusing on TYUT’s “double first-class” construction goals, has agreed on a number of cooperation intentions with the above universities. The heads and relevant personnel of the Personnel Division, College of Foundation Studies, Key Laboratory of Interface Science and Engineering in Advanced Materials of the Ministry of Education, and International Cooperation Division joined the visit.
At the City University of Macau (CityU), Wu Yucheng held talks with its Rector Prof. Zhang Shuguang; Pro-Rector Robert CHAN Chon Pat; Prof. Wencai Du, the dean of the Institute of Data Science; and Prof. Zhiming Cai, the head of the Academic Affairs Office. The two parties held in-depth discussions on the exchange of students, the dispatching of experts and teachers employed by both universities and specially recruited experts and teachers to each other’s university as visiting scholars, the admission exam exemption system for recommended postgraduate candidates, and joint application for national scientific research projects, etc.; and agreed on cooperation intentions in many disciplines such as humanities, arts, ancient architecture and big data etc.
At the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Wu Yucheng met with Professor Kwok-yin Wong, Interim Vice President of PolyU. The two sides discussed cooperation in the fields of chemistry, materials, artificial intelligence, aerospace engineering and so on. Wu Yucheng had extensive exchanges with Prof. Yan Hong and Prof. Wai Yeung Wong of PolyU on scientific research cooperation.
TYUT also organized a special talent recruitment fair at PolyU, which attracted wide attention from students and scholars of a number of universities such as PolyU and Hong Kong Baptist University etc. The responsible persons of the Personnel Division introduced TYUT’s demand for talents and its construction of “double first-class” disciplines to the students and scholars participating in the recruitment fair, including the related personnel policies and supporting conditions of TYUT.
At Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), Wu Yucheng held talks with Prof. Wai Kwok Wong, Vice President of HKBU; Mr. C. K. Yeung, associate vice-president; Prof. Zhang Jianhua, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Prof. Zhu Furong of the Department of Physics; Dr. Yang Li-wei, Senior Manager of Mainland Development Office. The two sides exchanged views on the exchanges and cooperation conducted between the two universities since the signing of the “Cooperation Agreement of Taiyuan University of Technology and Hong Kong Baptist University on the Continuous Bachelor and Master Degree Program” in 2013. Both sides agreed to launch a new continuous master and doctoral degree program based on the existing continuous bachelor and master degree program. The delegation also visited the State Key Laboratory of Environmental and Biological Analysis and the laboratory of Professor Zhu Furong. During his visit to HKBU, Wu Yucheng also visited TYUT’s exchange students and young teachers in HKBU, hoping that they could work diligently and complete the exchange task successfully.
During the visit, Wu Yucheng exchanged views with Prof. Chen Furong and Prof. Li Zhensheng from City University of Hong Kong on the research and development of high-temporal-spatial resolution electron microscope and its application in materials science, as well as the frontier research hotspots of advanced functional materials, such as nanomaterials and surface science etc.
During his stay in Hong Kong, Wu Yucheng, on behalf of TYUT, paid a visit to Mr. Chen Jingqiang, an outstanding alumnus of TYUT and President of the Hong Kong Overseas Chinese Association, conveyed to him the greetings from President Huang Qingxue and the teachers and students of TYUT, and sincerely invited TYUT’s alumni in Hong Kong to go back to their alma mater to discuss the development plan together.
Wu Yucheng pointed out that this trip to universities in Hong Kong and Macau had deepened the mutual understanding between TYUT and universities in Macau and Hong Kong, strengthened the emotional connection with Hong Kong alumni, broadened the communication channel with universities in Macau and Hong Kong for inter-university exchanges and cooperation, and set up a new cooperation platform.
