On April 16, TYUT and University of Wollongong (UOW) Australia held the inauguration ceremony of a joint experimental center in the hall on the 9th floor of the Yifu Building at Yingxi Campus. Damien Israel, Chief Operating Officer of UOW; Marisa Mastroianni, Managing Director & Group Chief Executive Officer of UOW Global Enterprises; Huang Qingxue, President of TYUT; Liang Weiguo, Vice President of TYUT; and Zhang Yu, Deputy Direction of the International Cooperation Division of Shanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology (SPDST) attended the inauguration ceremony. The heads and experts of the International Office and Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences of UOW; and the heads of relevant subunits of TYUT, including Science and Technology Research Institute, College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, and Analysis and Testing Center etc., took part in the event. Liang Weiguo hosted the inauguration ceremony.
Witnessed by both parties, Damien Israel and Huang Qingxue unveiled the joint experimental center together.
Huang Qingxue said that TYUT and UOW had been cooperating with each other for many years and enjoyed a good foundation for cooperation in talent training, research and development. The joint experiment center covers multiple disciplines such as machinery, materials, information, mechanics, etc. In the early stage of the cooperation, the center had received supports from many parties. He believed that with the help of all parties, the newly established joint experimental center would bring greater opportunities for the cooperation between the two universities and yield more fruitful results.
Valerie M. Linton, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences UOW, said that the establishment of the joint experimental center marks the beginning of a new journey for the cooperation between the two universities in related fields. She hoped that the two sides could carry out extensive cooperation in carrying out research projects, constructing R&D institutions, converting and promoting research results, and exchanging academic talents etc.
Zhang Yu said in his remarks that Shanxi Province and Australia had been cooperating with each other in science and technology for a long time. And the establishment of the joint experiment center would further expand the field of cooperation between Shanxi Province and Australia. As the science and technology administration department of Shanxi Province, SPDST will provide support and assistance for the cooperation between the two universities and the operation of the joint experimental center.
After the inauguration ceremony, the UOW delegation also visited the Metal Matrix Composite Forming Laboratory.
