On the morning of April 16, Che Jianhua, Deputy Mayor of Taiyuan Municipal People’s Government, came to TYTU and met with Damien Israel, Chief Operating Officer of University of Wollongong (UOW) Australia, who was visiting TYUT currently. Liang Hongyu, Director of Taiyuan Education Bureau; Li Dagong, Party Committee Secretary of Taiyuan University; and Zhang Ruijun, President of Taiyuan University, attended the meeting. Liang Weiguo, Vice President of TYUT, hosted the meeting.
Before the meeting, Liang Weiguo first introduced the guests from both sides, and then briefly introduced the cooperation between TYUT and UOW and expressed his good wish for win-win development for all parties.
On behalf of Taiyuan City, Che Jianhua welcomed Damien Israel and his delegation. After briefly introducing the long history and featured industries of Taiyuan City, he pointed out that Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee and Government attach great importance to the development of education, insist on putting education in a prominent position, and provide strong support in terms of talents, policies, and funds to educational development. He said that the three strategic goals of transforming Shanxi into a “Demonstration Zone”, a “Pioneer of Energy Revolution” and a “New Opening Highland” are important missions entrusted to Shanxi by the central government. He hoped that relevant universities in Taiyuan could seize the opportunity and take the initiative to carry out more extensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation with the foreign party based on the excellent cooperation between TYUT and UOW.
Damien Israel highly praised Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee and Government for putting education as a priority for development. He said that UOW highlights research innovation, educational environment and international development. In particular, in order to promote the conversion of scientific and technological achievements, innovation and entrepreneurship, UOW had established many innovation parks in Wollongong. He hoped that through this visit, UOW could carry out exchanges and cooperation in various fields with universities such as TYUT, so as to learn from each other, supplement one another and cooperate for win-win results.
