On the morning of April 16, a delegation led by Damien Israel, Chief Operating Officer of University of Wollongong (UOW) Australia, visited TYUT. During the visit, He Linyou, Deputy Secretary of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee Education Working Committee and Member of Shanxi Provincial Education Department Party Group, met with Damien Israel and his delegation, and held a discussion with them at TYUT. The meeting was hosted by Liang Weiguo, Vice President of TYUT.

In his remarks, He Linyou welcomed the delegation from UOW. He introduced the achievements Shanxi Province had made in implementing the transformation, comprehensive reform and innovation-driven strategy in recent years, fully affirmed the efforts made by TYUT in technological innovation and talent training, and highly praised the extensive cooperation between TYUT and UOW in joint training and exchange of teachers and students over the years. He pointed out that the setting of the strategic goal of transforming Shanxi into “a new highland for inland areas open to the outside world” by Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Government indicates that Shanxi Province will go all out to open up. He said that Shanxi Provincial Education Department will continue to provide strong support for the further cooperation between the two universities; and hoped that TYUT and UOW could seize the great opportunity for cooperation and development, and carry out more intense exchange of teachers and students, more frequent cultural communication and closer research cooperation under the new cooperation framework, so as to jointly make progress and achievements.

Damien Israel introduced the history, features and status of UOW, as well as the important role it plays in promoting local economic development. During the discussion, he reviewed the history of cooperation between the two universities; and hoped that further substantive cooperation between the two universities could be carried out through this face-to-face exchange.

Before the meeting, Liang Weiguo introduced the guests from both sides, and expressed his good wish for multipartite cooperation and win-win development.
