On April 15, Axel Hunger, Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Engineering in the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) Germany visited TYUT and had discussions with the heads of relevant colleges.
Hunger gave a detailed introduction of the history, characteristics, teaching faculty, teaching and research, and international cooperation of UDE, etc. Given that the industrial structure of North Rhine-Westphalia is similar to that of Shanxi Province, he said, it is hoped that a point of convergence in research could be found between TYUT and UDE, and a deep, comprehensive win-win cooperative relationship could be established between the two universities.
The heads and representatives of the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, College of Information and Computer, College of Electrical and Power Engineering and College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering introduced their respective degree programs, featured disciplines, and research projects, etc., and expressed their wish for cooperation with UDE in personnel training and scientific research.
After the meeting, Hunger visited the Key Laboratory of New Sensors and Intelligent Control of Ministry of Education.
UDE is a comprehensive public university located in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in western Germany. Its campuses are situated in Duisburg and Essen. UDE accommodates about 43,000 students from over 130 countries and is one of the ten largest universities in Germany. UDE was ranked 190th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019. The key research directions of UDE include nanotechnology, biomedical technology, urban systems, and modern social transformation etc.
