Notice on the Application for the 2020 Study Abroad Program for Young Backbone Teachers of Colleges and Universities

Relevant Subunits,

 

To further expedite the internationalization of the teachers of TYUT, promote international academic exchanges and cultivate a team of high-quality talents, and as per the requirements of the “China Scholarship Council (CSC) on the 2020 Study Abroad Program for Young Backbone Teachers of Colleges and Universities”, we hereby issue the notice on matters related to the application for the 2020 study abroad program for young backbone teachers of colleges and universities as follows:

 

  1. Selection Plan

     

  1. TYUT plans to select a total of 45 visiting scholars and post-doctors.

  2. The period of study abroad for visiting scholars is 3-12 months, and that for post-doctors 6-24 months.

  3. The candidates selected will be provided with one-time round-trip international travel expenses and scholarships for the government-sponsored overseas study personnel within the support period. The scholarship standards and disbursing methods will be set in accordance with relevant national regulations.

     

  1. Eligibility Requirements

     

  1. The candidate shall support the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, love his or her motherland, and have a sense of social responsibility to serve the country and the people, and a correct worldview, and outlook on life and values.

  2. The candidate shall have a solid grasp of basic major knowledge and great development potential, with excellent performance in work and study. He or she shall have a sense of mission and the determination to return home to serve the national construction after completing his or her study abroad.

  3. The candidate shall have the nationality of the People’s Republic of China and shall not have the right of permanent residence abroad.

  4. The candidate shall be healthy both physically and mentally.

  5. The candidate shall be a regular staff member of TYUT and engaged in teaching and research. He or she shall have passed the annual performance evaluations of the past three years before going abroad.

  6. Those who apply for studying abroad as visiting scholars shall be under the age of 45 (born after January 1, 1974) and shall have worked at TYUT for three years before going abroad.

  7. Those who apply for studying abroad as post doctors shall be under 40 years old (born after January 1, 1979), and shall be one of the reserve teachers of TYUT and in its priority cultivation list. By the time of application, it shall have been no more than 3 years since he or she obtained his or her PhD. He or shall have worked for 2 years before going abroad.

  8. The foreign institution where the candidate applies to study shall be in the top 400 universities as ranked in the Times, or in the top 200 universities as per the concerned disciplinary ESI ranking or an internationally famous university which has signed strategic cooperation agreement with TYUT. Any application that does not meet the above requirements will not be accepted, and the candidate will not be dispatched abroad.

  9. For application, an official invitation letter from the overseas study institution shall be submitted.

  10. The candidate shall have led a university-level research topic or project or above; or have participated in a research topic or project of the provincial or ministerial level or above. His or her overseas study plan shall be closely related to his or her research project or topic. Furthermore, the direction of study abroad as indicated in the invitation letter issued by the foreign institution shall be consistent with the research project or topic that he or she undertakes.

  11. The candidate’s command of the required foreign language shall meet the foreign language requirements of CSC for applicants studying abroad as well as the language requirements of the country and the institution where the candidate plans to study.   12. Applications from the following persons will not be accepted for now:

  13. Those who have already received a full scholarship for study abroad;

  14. Those who have already been selected for a state sponsored study abroad program, and it is still within the validity period;

  15. Those who have applied for a state sponsored study abroad program but have not been informed of the result;

  16. Those who have obtained the approval to study abroad with national public fund support, but have given up without the consent of CSC within the past 5 years; or have given up but with the consent of CSC within the past 2 years;

  17. Those who studied abroad with a scholarship provided by CSC but have less than 3 years of service after returning to China.

 

  1. Selection Procedures

  1. Those who meet the eligibility requirements shall log in to the registration system from 18:00 July 20, 2020 to 24:00 July 29, 2020 (Homepage of Taiyuan University of Technology’s Personnel and Talent Information Network - Network Service Hall - Registration for Government Sponsored Overseas Study Programs. The account name for logging in for the first time is your work number, and the password the last six digits of your ID card. Please modify the login password in time). Please fill in the relevant information and upload a scanned copy of the original certification documents. Please prepare the official invitation letter from a foreign institution and the curriculum vitae of the foreign cooperation party in accordance with the requirements of the CSC on the “Application Materials and Instructions for the 2020 Study Abroad Program for Young Backbone Teachers of Colleges and Universities” (https://www.csc.edu.cn/article/1731).

     

    Note: the registration system will be closed at 24:00 on July 29, 2020.

 

  1. Formal review of the candidates by the Personnel Division: The Personnel Division will conduct a formal review of the applicants’ materials before July 30. During the formal review process, inaccurate and incomplete information can be revised and supplemented as prompted by the system. Only after the formal review proves satisfactory can the application form be generated and printed online.

     

  2. Submission of materials: The applicant shall submit the application form in triplicate before 17:00 on July 31, 2020 (positive and negative print, signed and stamped with the official seal of the affiliated subunit) and a copy of the proof materials (positive and negative print, with a self-compiled catalogue and separately bound into books) and “Recommendation Letter of the Subunit for Teacher(s) of TYUT Applying for the Overseas Study Program” (see attachment 1, with the signature of the head of the subunit and the official seal of the subunit) to the Teachers’ Section of the Personnel Division (Room B612 of the Administrative Building at Mingxiang Campus); and send the Word document of the “Recommendation Letter of the Subunit for Teacher(s) of TYUT Applying for the Overseas Study Program” to the mailbox tyut-szk@tyut.edu.cn.

     

  3. Before August 7, 2020, the Personnel Division will organize expert to review the applications, select the best candidates, and determine a list of the recommended candidates.

     

  4. International Cooperation Division (ICD) will organize the candidates selected for the “Study Abroad Program for the Young Backbone Teachers of Taiyuan University of Technology” to register on the information platform of CSC(http://apply.csc.edu.cn)from September 10 – 20, prepare and submit online the application materials as per the “Application Materials and Instructions for the 2020 Study Abroad Program for Young Backbone Teachers of Colleges and Universities” (https://www.csc.edu.cn/article/1731), and submit, in addition, a hard copy of the “Application Form for Study Abroad Program(s) Sponsored by CSC” (visiting scholars) to ICD (Room B809 of the Administrative Building at Mingxiang Campus) before 17:00 on September 25.

     

  5. ICD will collect all the application materials and submit them to CSC.
