On May 21 local time, François Avons-Bariot, Chairman of the Academic Committee of Ecole Supérieure Libre d’Art de Paris (ESLAP) hosted an award ceremony in the Hall of Honor at the main campus of ESLAP to award the médaille d’honneur and titre honoraire to Wu Yucheng, Party Committee Secretary of TYUT, in recognition of his outstanding academic attainments and valuable contributions to the promotion of the research and teaching cooperation between the two universities.

Chairman Avons-Bariot said in his speech that high-level exchange visits had been frequent since the establishment of friendly relations between TYUT and ESLAP in 2014. In particular, 10 students from ESLAP went to study in the College of Art of TYUT in 2017 for one month, which enabled them to experience the friendship and passion of TYUT and have a deeper and more direct understanding of the Chinese culture and art. During the summer vacation in 2018, 20 young teachers from TYUT came to study at ESLAP. They learned about the French culture, art and philosophy; and communicated with masters of ESLAP artistic concepts, creative ideas and contrasting ideologies etc. These visits deepened the friendship between the two universities and promoted the mutual learning between different civilizations.

François Avons-Bariot said that tolerance, openness, and emphasis on international artistic exchanges are the tenets of ESLAP. It is because of the great support and continued efforts of Party Committee Secretary Wu Yucheng that the exchange program between the two universities has turned out so successful. In view of the recognition, the Academic Committee of ESLAP approved unanimously the awarding of the médaille d’honneur and titre honoraire to Wu Yucheng. François Avons-Bariot believed that Wu Yucheng really deserves the award. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Wu Yucheng for his contributions to the cooperation between the two universities and the cultural exchanges between China and France; and sent his congratulations to Wu Yucheng as well.

Wu Yucheng said in his reply speech that he was very honored to receive the medal, which is both a personal honor and the witness of the cooperation between the two universities. China and France enjoy a lasting friendship, and similarly, TYUT and ESLAP have been cooperating with each other very closely over the years. The prospects of the cooperation between the two universities are bright. He hoped that both parties could work together to further improve the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.

Wu Yucheng pointed out that the “Belt and Road” initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping provides a historical opportunity for China and Europe to realize win-win cooperation and development. It is hoped that under the guidance of the “Belt and Road” initiative, which serves as a grand blueprint for cooperation and development, the two universities could further integrate their educational resources, improve their talent training quality, and promote their cooperation to a higher level.

Wu Yucheng also introduced TYUT’s construction of the “Double First-Class” disciplines and university to the French participants in the award ceremony, and kindly invited them to visit TYUT for guidance and exchanges.

Wu Yucheng visited France this time at the invitation of Laurène stein, the President of ESLAP. Before the award ceremony, he also participated in an academic seminar at ESLAP.
