TYUT Party Committee Secretary Wu Yucheng leads a delegation to South Korea for inter-university visits and exchanges

From June 23 to 27, Wu Yucheng, Party Committee Secretary of TYUT, was invited to lead a delegation to visit Kyonggi University, Dankook University, Chosun University and Songwon University in South Korea. The heads and relevant personnel of the Academic Affairs Division, Graduate School, College of Art, College of Physical Education, College of International Education Exchange and Center for Teacher Development etc. joined the visit.

 

During his visit in South Korea, Wu Yucheng had fruitful exchanges with Dr. Kim In-kyu, the president of Kyonggi University, and Dr. Kyung Hyun Nam, Dean of the Office of International Affairs and Office of International Programs. In the exchanges, the two sides, centering on the “double first-class” construction and “internationalization” of TYUT, had in-depth discussions, introducing in detail the history, discipline construction, research strength and internationalization of each other’s university and exploring ways and channels to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation between the two universities under the new situation. The two sides also signed a “Memorandum of Agreement on Cooperation between Taiyuan University of Technology and Kyonggi University”, which records the preliminary intentions of cooperation between the two universities on the exchange of teachers and students as well as academic and research collaborations. Drawing on the geographical closeness of the two countries, the two universities will carry out substantive cooperation programs in the future, including exchange of experts, joint training, research cooperation, academic communications and student exchanges etc. After the meetings, the delegation of TYUT also visited the gymnasium, art gallery and museum of Kyonggi University.

 

Based on their previous extensive exchanges, Wu Yucheng also had a friendly meeting with Ho-sung Chang, President of Dankook University. This was also the first return visit after Dankook University had visited TYUT in March this year. The two sides had in-depth and detailed discussions on the exchange of teachers and students, academic programs, discipline construction, sports and cultural exchanges etc.

 

On 25 June, Wu Yucheng led the delegation to Muan County, Jeollanam-do to participate in the “Shanxi Day” event, where he participated in the promotion of the higher education of Shanxi. Following Luo Huining, Secretary of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, and Governor Jin Yinglu, he arrived at the Lawn of the Dao Hall and planted a Chinese Weeping Peach tree, which symbolized the blossoming cooperation and friendship between the two countries. In the evening, the entire delegation of Shanxi Province watched a wonderful performance by artists from the two countries.

 

On 26 June, Wu Yucheng and his delegation arrived at Chosun University in Gwangju metropolitan city. He held talks with Dr. Hong Sung-Geum, acting president of Chosun University and the heads of the Foreign Cooperation Office and the International Office, and signed the Memorandum of Agreement on Cooperation between Taiyuan University of Technology and Chosun University. The two parties had in-depth discussions on the exchange of teachers and students, and potential cooperation in the fields of materials science, biomedical engineering, physical and electrical engineering, and welding technology etc. Afterwards, the delegation of TYUT visited the National Biomedical Laboratory of South Korea and learned about its latest achievements on Alzheimer’s syndrome research. The delegation also visited the library of Chosun University and learned about its personnel management and the distribution of functional areas.

 

At the end of the visit, Wu Yucheng pointed out that the inter-university visits to Korean universities will help accelerate the pace of TYUT’s internationalization and lay a solid foundation for further cooperation and exchanges with South Korea in the future.
