On April 22, Dr. Li Renying, advisor to the rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), visited TYUT. Wu Yucheng, TYUT Party Committee Secretary, met with the visitor in the meeting room 306 of the main office building at the Yingxi campus. Vice President Liang Weiguo and the heads of the Party Committee Office and International Cooperation Division attended the meeting.
Wu Yucheng first welcomed Dr. Li Renying visit on behalf of TYUT, and introduced to him the teaching faculty, special disciplines and international cooperation of TYUT, as well as the modern coal chemical industry of Shanxi Province. He hoped that the two sides could further strengthen their communication and exchanges by carrying out collaborative talent training and exchange of teachers and students on relevant disciplines, jointly building China- Azerbaijan” international laboratories and Confucius Institutes (classrooms) and promoting sports and cultural exchanges. And the two sides could actively respond to the call of the “Belt and Road” University Alliance Forum for cultivating more international talents, strengthening cooperation and working together to promote development.
Dr. Li Renying thanked TYUT for its warm reception. He introduced the history and size of ASOIU, and its exchanges and cooperation with Chinese universities. He hoped to use the international cooperation platform of the “Belt and Road Forum” to expedite the establishment of cooperative relations between the two universities so as to conduct further cooperation programs and exchange high-level talents between TYUT and ASOIU, especially to jointly train international talents. He said that as the academic programs of TYUT and ASOIU are highly matching, a wide range of exchanges and cooperation can be carried out between the two universities, such as exchange of teachers and students, joint building of international laboratories and artificial intelligence, etc. He invited leaders of TYUT and representatives of its teachers and students in relevant fields to participate in the exchanges and forums organized by ASOIU.
During the visit, Dr. Li Renying also visited TYUT’s history exhibition, engineering training center, and Mingxiang campus.
ASOIU is located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Founded in 1920, ASOIU is a comprehensive public university administered by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. It is the oldest petroleum institution of higher learning in Europe and Asia, and also the largest research center in the field of fuel energy and chemical technology in Azerbaijan. In its historical development over the past one hundred years, ASOIU has trained a large number of outstanding petroleum talents for the world and made great contributions to the development of the international petroleum industry. The famous scientist Professor Mendeleev is just an alumnus of ASOIU and has once been a teacher at ASOIU.
