Notice on Selecting Teachers to be Sent Abroad by the State for Public Duties in the 2020 Academic Year

All subunits,

As per the “Notice on Organizing the Selection of Teachers to be Sent Abroad by the State for Public Duties in the 2020 Academic Year” (CLEC [2020] No. 2, hereinafter referred to as the “CLEC Notice”) issued by Center for Language Education and Cooperation of Ministry of Education (CLEC) (hereinafter referred to as the “CLEC”), the selection of teachers to be sent abroad by the state for public duties starts now. Relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

I. Job Vacancies

For vacancies for teachers to be sent abroad by the state for public duties and Chinese teachers of Confucius Institutes, please check onne.  Anyone in TYUT who meets the eligibility requirements can apply for these job vacancies on a voluntary basis. Those who apply for the vacancies for teachers of the Confucius Institutes at Kabul University in Afghanistan and the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, which were constructed by TYUT, will be included in TYUT’s talent pool of Confucius Institute teachers.     

II. Eligibility Requirements

1.The applicant shall love international Chinese language education, observe disciplines and laws, and aim to be a model of virtue for others. He or she shall be dedicated, honest and friendly, and have a team spirit.

2. The applicant shall be an in-service teacher with a teaching experience of 2 years or more (at home or abroad) or have been an international Chinese teacher volunteer for 2 years or more.

3. The applicant shall have a bachelor’s degree or above, with an educational background in humanities such as international Chinese education, Chinese language, foreign languages, education, and culture etc. Those who apply for the posts as volunteers shall have obtained a master’s degree or above.

4. The applicant shall be generally under 55 years old (inclusive), and those who apply for the posts as volunteers shall be over 26 years old (inclusive). The applicant shall be physically and mentally healthy. Russian, French, German, Spanish or Arabic teachers can be under 58 years old (inclusive).

5.The applicant shall have strong Chinese teaching, Chinese cultural communication and cross-cultural communication skills. Those who have experience in teaching Chinese as a second language or an overseas working experience are preferred.

6. The applicant shall reach level 2 A or above (inclusive) in Mandarin and be proficient in English or the language of the destination country.

7. The applicant shall hold an “International Chinese Teacher Certificate”. Those who have not obtained the certificate at the time of registration shall obtain it before leaving for office.

8. The applicant shall meet the requirement of the foreign teaching job vacancy.

 III. Application Procedures

Teachers who apply to teach abroad are requested to fill in the application form online (those who fail to do so will not be accepted). They shall log on to http://kzxyshizi.hanban.org to register online. After filling in the “Form of Application for Teachers Sent Abroad by the State for Public Duties”, they shall download and print it for submission to the subunit for review (the subunit is requested not to sign its opinions in the form, but attach a list of the approved personnel on a separate page and affix the official seal). Those who apply for the posts as international Chinese teacher volunteers can only apply online after completing the outgoing formalities.

The Party Committee (General Party Branch) of the subunit which a teacher is affiliated is kindly requested to provide a recommendation letter. A truthful evaluation of the teacher’s political thoughts, morals and virtues, teaching ability, physical and mental health shall be included in the recommendation letter, together with the official seal of the Party Committee (General Party Branch) of the subunit.

During application, a volunteer shall provide the international Chinese teacher volunteer performance evaluation form, a reference letter from the last foreign employing institution, a letter of recommendation from his or her thesis supervisor or an associate professor or a teacher with a higher titleship of the last academic institution in China he or she has attended.  

The above application materials and the related proof materials (both in duplicate) shall be submitted to the International Cooperation Division (Room B806, Administrative Building, Mingxiang Campus) by subunit foreign affairs secretaries from 10-16 on July 20.
