An Open Letter from the Taiwan Affairs Office of Shanxi Province and the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of Shanxi Province to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Compatriots in Shanxi

Dear Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Compatriots in Shanxi,

Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have devoted much attention to the epidemic, promptly initiated the first-level response to this major public health emergency and carried out the epidemic prevention and control in a scientific and orderly manner. At present, we have entered a critical period in the prevention and control of the epidemic. For your safety and health, we offer the following kind reminders:  

I. Following up the epidemic development: The epidemic is still serious now. Please have a proper understanding of the current situation. You should neither underestimate the severity of the epidemic nor panic because of it. Don’t believe or spread rumors. Please check for your information the official bulletins publicized on the website of the Shanxi Provincial Health Commission (wjw.shanxi.gov.cn) and “Shanxi Disease Control”, the official WeChat account of Shanxi Provincial Novel Coronavirus Prevention and Control Public Service Platform, or call the 24-hour 12320 health hotline to learn about the epidemic prevention and control measures and other related information.  

II. Strengthening personal protection: Please keep good health habits and consciously cooperate with the epidemic prevention and control arrangement. Please avoid going to crowded places or attending dinner parties. Please stay home and away from gatherings as much as possible. Wear protective masks when going out. If you have visited or come in contact with people coming (or returning) from severely hit regions recently, please pay close attention to your physical condition, self-isolate at home, and report your situation to the sub-district or community office where you live. 

III. Seeking medical attention in time: At present, Shanxi Province has identified 232 fever clinics and 26 designated treatment hospitals (For the specific list, please see attached). If you have symptoms such as fever, fatigue, dry cough, chest tightness, or difficulty breathing, please go to a designated medical institution as soon as possible, and cooperate with the medical institution on diagnosis and treatment. 

IV. Keeping in touch: Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government are deeply concerned about the physical health of and difficulties facing Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Compatriots in Shanxi. The Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Offices of Shanxi Province will serve all the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Compatriots and the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan-funded enterprises in Shanxi. The severe winter will eventually pass, and spring is just around the corner. We hope that all the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Compatriots could stand side by side with the people of Shanxi to get through the hard times with firm belief and strong determination. Let’s join hands to stop the spread of the epidemic and win the fight against the epidemic!
