Editor:International Cooperation Division .November.19.2021 158

On the afternoon of November 19, all the staff members of the International Cooperation Division (ICD) attended a meeting in Meeting Room A312, Mingxiang campus Administrative Building, where the decision of the CPC TYUT Committee on the appointment of the ICD Director was announced. Liu Runxiang, the CPC TYUT Committee Deputy Secretary, and Xiao Liantuan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC TYUT Committee and TYUT Vice President, took their presence at the meeting, which was chaired by Hao Xiaoxing, the Organization Department Director of the CPC TYUT Committee and also member of the Standing Committee of the CPC TYUT Committee.

The meeting started with Hao announcing the decision of the Standing Committee of the CPC TYUT Committee. Zhang Yongzhong was recruited as ICD Director, responsible for ICD’s overall work.

Grateful to the university’s confidence in him, Zhang said that he would resolutely obey and implement the arrangements made by the CPC TYUT Committee, and would dedicate to improving the internationalization of the university, which is part of its efforts to upgrade the “Double First-class” construction. He would unite and lead all the ICD comrades to achieve this, he said.

In his speech, Xiao fully recognized Zhang’s past achievements, stating that internationalization work undertakes major responsibilities in spreading the Chinese culture and cultivating talents with a broad international perspective, and is crucial to the construction of high-level universities. TYUT enjoys great potential for the development of internationalization. He has been looking forward to the prospect that, despite of the once-in-a-century transformation in the world, the COVID-19 pandemic, and growing numbers of challenges confronting international educational cooperation, ICD could, by remaining strategically determined and opportunities secured, strive to advance all works related to TYUT’s internationalization and to accomplish outstanding achievements as a tribute to the 20th CPC National Congress to be held in the coming year.

Liu said, having been serving on multiple positions since he joined TYUT, Zhang has demonstrated a high level of ideological and political awareness. The CPC TYUT Committee’s appointment of Zhang as the ICD Director is a prudent decision that meets the need of TYUT’s development, reflecting the Committee’s close attention to and ardent hope for the university’s undertakings of internationalization. He also said that Zhang should serve with leadership and build on previous accomplishments to obtain new growth, new highlights, and new contributions to TYUT’s internationalization. He required that in future work, ICD should further:

1. Strengthen political awareness, especially political disciplines and disciplines related to foreign affairs in international cooperation and exchanges, and consolidate bottom-line thinking and risk awareness;

2. Promote team building and sharpen leadership, secure a working atmosphere that fosters professionalism, sense of responsibility, and the pooling of wisdom;

3. Improve efficiency and guarantee of service. Staff members should better understand their duty, improve performance, and create new space for development;

4. Maintain integrity and incorruptibility, practice self-discipline, lead by example, build up ideological defenses against corruption and degeneracy, and strictly observe CPC disciplines.
