On the morning of July 15, a delegation of four people from the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), including its Principal Webber and the Jamaican Director of the Confucius Institute Dr. Courtney A. Hogarth, visited TYUT. Wu Yucheng, Party Committee Secretary of TYUT, met with the foreign guests in the VIP room of the main building; and Vice President Liang Weiguo and the heads of the International Cooperation Division and Confucius Institute Office attended the meeting.

Wu Yucheng warmly welcomed Principal Webber and his delegation. He pointed out that TYUT and UWI should further enhance their mutual understanding and establish a better cooperative relationship through visits and exchanges. He revealed that TYUT would dispatch Associate Professor Feng Lei to Jamaica to serve as the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute jointly constructed by the Mona Campus of UWI and TYUT. Wu Yucheng hoped that the Jamaican and Chinese directors could communicate and cooperate closely with each other and make concerted efforts to promote the construction of the Confucius Institute to a higher level.

Principal Webber said that TYUT is a university that offers a high level of education and enjoys a good international reputation; and he is in full support of the sharing of information and resources between the two sides. And as the principal of the Mona campus of UWI, he would give full assistance to the cooperation between the two sides, especially the development of the Confucius Institute.
