On the morning of December 17, the 2019 Methanex -Taiyuan University of Technology Scholarship Award Ceremony was held in the Guojiao Building of TYUT. Ms. Gu Jing, Director of Investment and Government Affairs of Methanex, Ms. Fan Chunyan, Director of Chinese Government and Public Affairs of Methanex, and heads of relevant colleges of TYTU attended the event. Li Ruifeng, director of International Cooperation Division, hosted the ceremony.
On behalf of TYUT, Li Ruifeng extended a warm welcome to the guests from Methanex, introduced briefly the history and size of TYUT, expressed his heartfeltthanks for the attention and support that Methanex has invested in the talent training of TYUT over the years, and offered his congratulations to the scholarship winners.
Ms. Gu Jing acknowledged the selection of the award winners, introduced the position of Methanex in the field, its values of “trust, respect, honesty and professionalism” and its safety concept of “responsible care”. She hoped that the students could make more contributions in the chemical industry in the future and achieve better results in their work and life. At last, the guests to the ceremony presented the scholarship certificates to the winners.
It is the eleventh selection of students for the Methanex -Taiyuan University of Technology Scholarship since 2009, and a total of 5 students have been awarded the scholarship. The award-winning students shared their feelings, expressed their gratitude to their Alma Mater and Methanex and showed their understanding of Methanex’s business philosophy. They expressed their hope to requite the university and society with their excellent performances in the future.
Methanex Corporation, headquartered in Vancouver Canada, is the world’s largest supplier of methanol. The Methanex-Taiyuan University of Technology Scholarship was set up in 2009, with its contract period being every five years. In June 2019, TYUT renewed the cooperation agreement for the next five years. As of now, a total of 75 students from different majors have won the scholarship. The application for the scholarship starts in April every year, and students can prepare and submit the required materials then. An interview will be organized to select the candidates for the scholarship in June. Each year, 5 outstanding students will be selected for the scholarship, and each student will be granted RMB9,000.
