On March 23, the 14th meeting of TYUT Epidemic Prevention and Control Leading Group was held in conference room 324 of the administrative building on Yingxi campus, which focused on foreign-related epidemic prevention and control affairs and made arrangements for major tasks of epidemic prevention and control in the next phase. Vice president Liang Weiguo presided over the meeting, and the heads of President Office, International Cooperation Division, Logistics Support Division, Personnel Division, Academic Affairs Division, Graduate School and College of International Education Exchange etc. attended the meeting.
In the meeting, the spirit of the directives issued by the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Department of Education on foreign-related epidemic prevention and control was conveyed and studied, and the current epidemic prevention and control situation evaluated. It was decided to set up a special foreign-related epidemic prevention and control working group, which is affiliated to TYUT Epidemic Prevention and Control Leading Group. The institution of the special working group is meant to strengthen the coordination and administration of foreign-related epidemic prevention and control affairs. A liaison officer will be designated who shall be responsible for conveying policies, collecting updates of the coronavirus pandemic, appeasing emotions, and solving problems. The meeting called for further strengthening of the connection with the friendly universities of TYUT and the provision of possible assistance to the latter to fight against the pandemic. The meeting also discussed the plan on epidemic prevention and control for the personnel returning from foreign countries to Shanxi and TYUT.
Liang stressed the importance of having clear political stance, resolutely implementing the directives from the higher authorities and further improving working mechanisms; as well as the urgency to accurately collect information about foreign teachers, international students and overseas Chinese exchange teachers and students, and strengthen epidemic prevention and control for those who have recently come to China, by following the principle of “zoned, classified and precise prevention and control”. He also emphasized the need for promoting publicity and education, and accurately grasping the whereabouts of teachers and students every day so that knowledge about epidemic prevention and control and caring measures adopted by TYUT can be relayed to all of them. Meanwhile, he required that scientific and precise working plans be made for overseas teachers and students returning to university, and that the epidemic prevention and control be carried out with a high sense of social responsibility so as to build a solid epidemic defense line to protect the campuses.
