Editor:International Cooperation Division .March.23.2020 154

On April 24, TYUT donated protective materials such as medical surgical masks, thermometers, goggles, disposable protective clothing and antiviral drugs etc. to Kabul University in Afghanistan and the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. Carrying the deep friendship of the teachers and students of TYUT, the materials are to send to Afghanistan and Jamaica. On behalf of TYUT, Vice President Liang Weiguo attended the donation ceremony.

At the donation ceremony site were seen boxes of “ready-to-go” protective materials, on which were written in Chinese, Dari and English warm words such as “Through mutual assistance, we will overcome the present difficulties”; “We are but one family and share the same destiny”; “Mountains and valleys don’t meet, but people do.” These words show the sincere blessings and firm support of the teachers and students of TYUT to their counterparts in its cooperating universities in Afghanistan and Jamaica.

Liang Weiguo pointed out that as the coronavirus pandemic is spreading globally, all countries are now fighting against the virus. TYTU cherishes the deep friendship with the teachers and students of the two universities and is greatly concerned about the situation of its cooperating universities in Afghanistan and Jamaica. The virus is merciless, but the world is full of love. Having learned about the severe shortage of anti-epidemic materials in the two countries, TYUT has collected from various sources medical surgical masks, thermometers, goggles, disposable protective clothing and antiviral drugs etc. to meet the urgent need of its cooperating universities in Afghanistan and Jamaica. He also stated that TYUT would work with its cooperating universities in Afghanistan and Jamaica, hand in hand and full of confidence, to hail the victory in the fight against the pandemic. After the pandemic is over, the two parties will further promote their cooperation to achieve new results while jointly running the Confucius Institute.

After the donation ceremony, Liang Weiguo has also had deep discussions about the international affairs of TYTU with responsible persons from the International Cooperation Division and College of International Education Exchange.
