Relevant Subunits,

To implement the strategy of strengthening the province with talents and utilize the resources of state and provincial government sponsored overseas study programs and enable more teachers, researchers and other staff members to apply for state and provincial government sponsored overseas study programs, we will continue to run the English training course for government sponsored overseas study programs next year. Participants who take the training course and pass the exam will obtain a certificate of completion of the advanced English training course in line with the foreign language requirements of China Scholarship Council and Shanxi Scholarship Council for overseas study programs. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

 I. Trainees 

1. Those who have been included in local cooperation overseas study programs or the overseas study programs fully financed by China Scholarship Council (CSC) or Shanxi Scholarship Council (SSC), but have not yet met the foreign language requirements of CSC and SSC for study abroad.

2. Those who plan to apply, in recent two years, for the overseas study programs fully financed by CSC, or the overseas study programs for young backbone teachers, or local cooperation overseas study programs or the overseas study programs financed by provincial government.  

II. Entrance Test  

Those who plan to participate in the English Training Course for Government Sponsored Overseas Study Programs shall sit for an English proficiency test before attending the training and can participate the training only after passing the test. Those who fail in the test and do not meet the admission criteria will not be admitted. All participants for the training shall take the test (Those who have obtained a total score of 40 in PETS5, 10 points (inclusive) or more in listening, or a total score of 5.5 or more in IELTS and listening (these English scores are valid for two years) can bring the original transcripts to the G201 office of the Guojiao Building for verification at the time of registration. If the English scores submitted by a participant prove satisfactory, he or she can be exempt from the entrance test). The entrance test is scheduled on the afternoon of December 5, and the venue of the test will be notified later on.  

III. Trainers and Training Mode  

1. Trainers include English training experts from the Overseas Study Personnel Training Department of Beijing Language and Culture University and teachers with rich experience in English teaching from TYUT;

2. The training will be carried out with the teaching materials designated for the training of government sponsored overseas study programs. The training syllabus and mode will be exactly the same as those of the Overseas Study Personnel Training Department of Beijing Language and Culture University. After the training is completed, trainees will take the final exam at Beijing Language and Culture University. The certificate that a trainee obtains after passing the exam will be valid for two years;

3. To attend the training, trainees will have to be partly off their regular duty. For one training course, a total of 350 learning hours will have to be completed;

4. According to the relevant regulations of CSC, those who are absent from the training for more than 20 hours shall not be allowed take the final examination. 

IV. Training Time and Venue 

1. Time: From December 2019 to June 2020. The first stage of the training course will start after New Year’s Day, and the trainers will be English training experts from the Overseas Study Personnel Training Department of Beijing Language and Culture University. The second stage will start after the winter vacation, and the specific time for the training will be notified later;

2. Training venue: TYUT Yingxi Campus  

V. Charges 

As per the regulations of the Ministry of Education’s Training Department for Personnel Studying Abroad, trainees are required to pay a training fee of RMB 9,380 per person (including fees for registration, teaching materials and examination). 

VI. Registration Time and Method 

Registration will start today. No training fee will be charged at the time of registration, and the charging time will be notified separately. Training participants shall fill out the “Registration Form for the English Training Course for Government Sponsored Overseas Study Programs” (only electronic version is required) and send it to tyutliufuzhongxin@163.com (the email address of TYUT Overseas Study Service Center) before 18:00 on November 15, 2019. Those who are exempt from the entrance test shall go to the G201 office of the Guojiao Building on Yingxi Campus with the original and copy of their valid English test transcripts on December 2 for verification. Overdue submission will not be accepted.
