The First Secretary of the Embassy of Canada in China visited TYUT

On November 24, Sarah Gross, the First Secretary of the Embassy of Canada in China, paid a visit to TYUT. Han Ruiyong, the Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, Shanxi Provincial Education Department, and Yan Xiaojuan, the cadre of  America and Oceania Section, Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Shanxi Province, accompanied during the visit.

During the symposium, the head of the International Cooperation Department gave a brief introduction to the history, scale, faculty and predominant disciplines of TYUT. It is expected to carry out cooperative projects with different levels and types through establishing cooperative relationships with Canadian universities and research institutes. The heads of the Undergraduate School, the Graduate School, the College of Textile Engineering, the College of Art, and the College of International Education Exchange presented the current development of Internationalization. The two sides made in-depth discussions on how to further expand the cooperation in running schools, mutual recognition of credits, joint training, and exchanges between teachers and students, and reached a preliminary consensus.

Gross introduced the international exchanges among Canadian universities and research institutions, and pointed out that this visit is of importance to stimulating the potential of future exchanges and cooperation in academic fields.

Han Ruiyong, the Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, Shanxi Provincial Education Department, fully affirmed the significance of this visit and required all departments of TYUT to make full use of the China-Canada friendship, keep contact with target universities of Canada, strengthen the cooperation between the two sides, and improve the international level and quality of TYUT.

The delegation also visited the Library of the Mingxiang Campus, the Collegeof Textile Engineering and the Collegeof Art.
