On the morning of December 10, a delegation of four people led by Prof. Vaclav Snasel, Rector of Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO), Czech Republic visited TYUT. President Huang Qingxue met with the guests and had a discussion with them at the Yingxi Campus. The heads of the President’s Office, International Cooperation Division, College of Civil Engineering, College of Information and Computer, College of International Education Exchange, and Metal Matrix Composite Forming Laboratory participated in the discussion. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Shu Xuefeng.

On behalf of TYUT, Huang Qingxue welcomed the delegation led by Snasel. He briefly introduced the history, advantageous disciplines and scientific research of TYUT, and recalled his visit with a delegation to VSB-TUO in 2016. He pointed out that as a national “double first-class” key construction university, TYUT undertakes major responsibilities for training high-end talents, initiating technological innovations and serving the society. TYUT focuses not only on educating students and improving the quality of scientific research, but also on the cultivation of students’ ability to innovate and compete. As Shanxi Province is currently undergoing a period of transformation, cooperation with relevant disciplines and specialties of VSB-TUO will help promote the industrial restructuring of Shanxi and serve local development. He hoped that with the visit of Rector Snasel as a turning point, communication and exchanges between the two universities would be further strengthened, and in-depth and extensive pragmatic cooperation on joint training and research cooperation etc. would also be carried out so as to achieve the goal of mutual learning and common development.

Snasel expressed his gratitude to TYUT for its warm reception, affirmed the cooperation foundation of the two universities, and pointed out specific directions for cooperation. He hoped that cooperation in areas of common interest to both universities, such as scientific research and student exchanges, could be conducted; and cooperation plans should be detailed so as to carry out substantive cooperation projects and achieve fruitful results at the earliest possible time.

Before the meeting, Snasel and his delegation held discussions and reached consensus with the heads and teachers’ representatives of the College of Civil Engineering and College of Information and Computer.
