On the morning of December 17, Dr. Steven Henins and Dr. Ge Yao from Department of External Affairs of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, America visited TYUT and had a discussion on the Yingxi Campus. The persons in charge of the International Cooperation Division, Youth League committee, College of International Education Exchange and College of Architecture participated in the meeting. Li Ruifeng, Director of the International Cooperation Division, chaired the discussion.
Li extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Steven Henins, and briefly introduced the history, size, faculty and advantageous disciplines of TYUT. Li pointed out that TYUT is both a national "211" key engineering university and a national “double first-class” key construction university. In recent years, TYUT has stepped up its internationalization efforts. Holding an open attitude, TYUT welcomes all kinds of cooperation projects. Li hoped that through in-depth exchanges between the two sides, a cooperative relationship can be established between TYUT and Rutgers, with cooperation projects of different levels and types agreed on by the two parties.
Steven Henins thanked TYUT for its warm reception and briefly introduced the history, size and international exchanges of Rutgers University. He introduced in detail the specialties and research fields of the School of Engineering and the School of Environment.
The two sides discussed and reached consensus on such projects as the expansion of professional knowledge for outstanding students, the improvement of teachers’ teaching and research capacities, joint organization of academic forums/lectures, mutual recognition of each other’s courses, and joint building of degree programs etc.
Rutgers University is a leading public research university in the United States, a member of the American University Consortium and the National Top Ten Public Universities Alliance, and the largest institution of higher education in New Jersey. Founded in 1766, Rutgers University is the eighth-oldest college in the United States. It has more than 9,000 teachers, 5 Nobel Prize winners, 4 Pulitzer Prize winners, 1 Fields Medal winner, 1 Wolf Prize winner, and 1 Abel Prize winner.
